With plans for a new assisted living facility, Mr. Carl Phelps turned to Cavin Design Group to design the Christian Care Assisted Living Facility. CDG had already finished the first phase, an Intermediate Care Facility, which included a 110 bed capacity, for Mr. Phelps. In this particular project specific requirements and amenities were needed for the second phase of a Continuum Care Facility. The facility needed to be accommodating, accessible, and provide a sense of security for the staff and residents.
CDG concentrated on a design concept that would ensure a smooth transition and an easily adaptive environment for new and existing residents. The floor plan consisted of approximately 40,000 square feet of usable space. The main entry introduced a lobby space with a reception and seating area. For resident living, the facility offered four different types of units from efficiency to a two bedroom space. Additional service rooms included a dining room, television room, craft room, beauty shop, whirlpool bath, and a library with fireplace. To encourage outdoor excursions, the building surrounded an enclosed scenic courtyard featuring a gazebo for general leisure.
This facility provided residents a lifestyle filled with convenience and comfort. It offered a unique design that was functional and non-institutional. Its safe environment provided all the needs to make daily living enjoyable.
