Chickasha chamber 1-small

Chickasha Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Council looked to restore their 1924 Spanish Revival building that had experienced a structurally damaging fire. This destruction affected the front forty feet of the second floor structure. Cavin Design Group established a design plan that was economical and retained the historic character of the building. New design features were also included to enhance the existing architecture.

During restoration, the damaged second floor was removed and redesigned to create a two-story lobby with an exposed mezzanine. This transformation allowed the interior environment to feel more spacious and create a visually grand introduction into the lobby. The new staircase leading up to the second floor was accented by the original railing and banister that was salvaged and used for a main entry focal point. Above, the ceiling featured tin tiles that were reconfigured and exposed new lighting fixtures. CDG also planned the repair and restoration of the hardwood floors with custom designed millwork to complement. The overall color scheme was enhanced by the new carpet, tile, and finishes which provided a pleasing backdrop for the building’s extensive collection of local artists. To complete the overall appearance, CDG combined custom designed furniture with new furniture for a unique setting.

Despite the challenging conditions, CDG was able to provide services and solutions that revived the soul and structure of the building. The restoration offered a pleasing environment that encompassed the historic past and the contemporary alterations as a unified scheme.
