First national - main bank architecture 1-small

First National Bank & Trust Company experienced an expansion that flawlessly joined a new addition with an existing building. Cavin Design Group concentrated on maintaining the integrity of the original building by incorporating a complementary and cost efficient design. Existing materials and details were assessed and used to influence the appearance of the new addition.

CDG’s design involved the concept of depth which was structurally shown in the height of the roof line and canopy. This allowed the existing bank to grow out of its box shape and appear more developed and polished with the new addition. The site also introduced four additional drive-in lanes that provided convenience and adequate space for extended car lines. For materials, CDG matched existing exterior materials, such as gold aluminum roofing and scored E.I.F.S, to achieve cohesive facades between the two buildings. To add individuality and character, the facility features two murals, by well known artist Hollis Howard. These murals have become recognizable icons within the community and have given the bank the nickname “Buffalo Branch.”

This addition was a successful project that required the ability to preserve existing design while integrating it with new ideas. With this particular project CDG had sustained a long standing relationship with the owner and had been the architect for the existing facility. This twenty year relationship allowed CDG to have the capabilities to understand fully the owner’s needs and the required steps to precisely execute this new addition. Before
